Our neighbor gets old bread by the truckload and has given us some in the past. Our kids refer to it as "chicken bread" since they will feed their bread to the chickens, which are free range layers. I have meat birds in a tractor that I move daily. Should I make use of bread and if so, how much?

My chickens adore bread and I give it to them regularly, especially when I run out of their layer pellets for a day or two. Bread is basically just grain, and that is what their commercial food is. Actually, its even better because its higher quality. However, make sure you are not feeding them so much that they don't eat their grower food and so get a vitamin/mineral deficiency or imbalance or not enough protein.

Hope this helps!

P.S. is it wheat bread or white bread?
