My neighbor has 2 chickens that like to come over and check out my chickens. They stay on the other side of the fence but they just like to look. Well, the other day we gave them some food. They were eating that food like they haven't even in days. I felt so bad for them so now when they come over I tend to give them some food. is this okay? i don't want to upset the neighbor but they seem so hungry and i feel bad feeding my chickens while they stare at them wanting the food too. Is this acceptable or should I stop?

Thank you!

My chicken always eat like they have been starved! So, they may just be typical scavenging chickens...lol.

I am really funny about chicken illness/disease. I would be more worried that the visiting chickens might bring a bug/germ with them. Just my neurosis showing through.

no, i definitely understand. I'm not so worried because they never come in close contact. the other chickens stand at the gate to our backyard the my chickens just ignore them and keep on going. it's almost like they are intrigued about other chickens.

you are probably right about scavenger chickens, so i'll probably stop feeding them but they are too cute.

today, their dad came out side and told them to come back on their side. the RIR was crying all the way back over to his house, like she wasn't done staring.

PERSONALLY, I do not feel that it is RIGHT to feed someone else's animals WITHOUT their permission. I would resent it myself. There are any number of reasons why.

On the other hand, WITH PERMISSION, I would do it myself.

just my 2 pesos worth,
