feeding oyster shells

Would ground freshwater mussel shells give the same benefits as oyster shells?

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! There is something in the shells of fresh water clams & mussels that will put a chicken down. They will eat them, then you will replace them.

Thank you so much, panner. We have LOADS of the clam/mussel shells around, but I didn't know they would be toxic to the chickens. You have saved us from a HUGE mistake!
