feeding pullets

My flock is 11 weeks old (30 hens). I still have them on chick starter and they are free ranging all day. How much chick feed do they need at this stage? They seem hungry at night when its time to go in coop. How much will they require when they move on to layer pellets?

You should offer it free choice. They will eat what they need.

don't give them layer feed until they start laying - use grower instead, or an all flock feed.

My thought is that you cannot judge if your chickens that are free ranging are each getting adequate nutrition from free ranging. You probably are going to have to supplement forever. It's just part of the expense of chickens.

If they don't find all they need while foraging during the day, they will fill up at the feeder before going to roost for the night.
My girls are filling their crops and drinking before flying up to the roosts around sunset. . GC
