Feeding raw shrimp shells to laying hens

Hi. I'm new to the chicken world. Does it make a difference if I give my laying hens "raw" or "cooked" shrimp shells?

If the shells are fresh, raw would be ok. If in doubt, lightly cook them. When I prepare shrimp, I clip up the shells into tiny pieces (so they all get some, and scatter them around in the sun room.

These days, when you don't always know how food is handled, I lightly cook mine. Then I also snip them into smaller pieces more because I'm scared of a hen swallowing a hunk and it getting lodged in the crop. They really love them.

Just fed my hens chopped shrimp tails and they were literally fighting over the pieces! So funny to watch!
