I'm hoping to get one of those 'trigger' feeders set up very soon and by then it'll be time to buy a new bag of feed. Flock raiser with a side order of calcium coming right up.

I am by no means picking on canesisters but it seems like this "What should I feed my Rooster?" question is posted just about on a weekly basis. It definitely seems like one of these many threads should be pinned.

Looks to me she did a search and did not come up with a definitive answer since this post was started 2/5/10. If there is a definitive answer it could be pinned though like you said. Just not sure there is and people are always coming up with new ideas. It never hurts to now what they are.

I gave this a lot of thought and decided to stick with flock raiser and bought a #50 bag of oyster shell calcium. I watched and noticed only my chickens who are laying even bothered eating the oyster shells. Hope this helps some.

Not in the least. I'm with you, what was assumed to be the best course of action 2 years ago may not be the consensus today. People new to chickens seem to ask the best questions that result in great conversation.
However, there are threads a few years old and 50,000+ posts long. It was just a thought.
