This is my first year in keeping chickens. Here is Tennessee I grow lots of tumeric. We make sandwich wraps using the leaves. I've seen lots of post about feeding the root to chickens, but have yet to determine if I can safely feed them the leaves. Does anyone out there have an experience and knowledge about the leaves? Thanks in advance.

Usually Ducks know very well what's good to eat for them, so i wouldn't be too worried.
My Ducks have already set their minds on the tomato plants, i promised them they can have'em after the first frost… And yes i know Tomato plats are »bad« for ducks, but tell that to my ducks. They devour them whole, green tomatoes first then the leaves, the stems and finally they dig out the roots.

That's what I was thinking to, as I am pretty sure that the leaves are the same make-up as the tumeric. I keep bees also and I'm finding that keeping chickens is a lot like keeping bees, everyone has a different take on things. I read so many thing about using DE in coop but I have been feeding it to my cats and dogs for years with no ill effects.
Thanks for your reply. I'm going to give them some today and see what happens.

I JUST LOOKED THIS UP AND IT SAYS THAT THE LEAVES CAN BE TOXIC...JUST THE ROOT IS USED FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSES.
