I have 4 Narragansetts and going to butcher for thanksgiving. I figured they are eatting about 9 lbs (2.25 lbs per bird) per day. Is that about what they should be eatting? Also, They always have food,,free choice. Should they get free choice or once a day feed them?

Thanks

we free range our heritage birds, feed bagged food only at nite (which they dont eat a lot of) ... and finish on corn. i'd give your birds free choice but 9 lbs sounds like a lot!

Hi, I don't know much about turkeys (cept how to hunt them in the spring,

) I DO however, raise quail for processing. I feed them game bird starter------28% their entire life. It's only 6 or 7 weeks, but that's a different story, lol. Anyway, I have since started giving my culled chicken cockerels the same feed and it puts great weight on them. Like I said, I don't know anything about raising turkeys.....but it just may work. Worth a try, anyway. Good luck with them, tho. Keep us posted on how things turn out. I just may get me some for next year.
