In order to keep the coop cleaner, can I serve the chickens food and water outdoors? Losing food to other animals is not an issue, since we simply think the cleaner coop is worth the extra dollars worth of food bought every month. Diseases is also not something we worry about; the chickens are free ranging most of the time, so they are bound to come into contact with any pathogens anyway. Furthermore, we plan to put the food and water under an outdoor roof connected to the coop, so the chickens can eat and drink all year round without getting wet.
