So it has been raining here pretty hard for a few days off and on. I went out this morning to feed and gather eggs and much to my surprise there were worms on the ground everywhere. I collected them and took them up to my chickens as a treat. They went crazy over them!

How exciting! Does anybody else do this or am I nuts?!

My husband says I am losing my mind but I just love my chickens!

Just needed some chicken lover feedback.

The wife digs over a small bit of the garden and the chickens go mad!

They even stand on the end of the shovel whilst it is being lifted so they get the worms first. The chickens are spoilt

Shame there not laying yet! lol

We keep(raise) worms in the summer for fishing. After we are done for the year, I give the left overs to the flock as treats. Is it fun watching them run trying to get the wigglers. They are also a good source of protein for the hens.

We gather the worms too for our hens, and it's a comedy show feeding them, watching the hens snatch a worm and run circles around the chicken yard evading their jealous sisters. I think that after the next good rain (which keeps coming day after grey day) that I'll let the hens out early to free range and find their own. Nightcrawlers are the very best treat for them, or so they tell me! ~G

i like catching grasshoppers and throwing them in the hen house! boy do they go nutso!! when i let them out i/ll go fllip logs and boards over just so they can scratch and eat the bugs.
