Feeding young ones egg laying pellets

How old should a chick be before you start feeding them egg laying pellets? Pro's & Con's Please...
They are Golden Comet Hybrids born on Aug. 8th of this year.

Chicks should never be fed layer pellets. The calcium is way too much for their bodies. I would not switch over until they are near POL.
