My DS got 2 keet at our county fair and we had them brooding with 2 chicks and a surprise lone duckling. Anyway the brooder was getting small and I thought maybe we should start to get them introduced to the adult guineas. Well I know they don't like them to be right in their coop and run, but we have an inside area that we could screen them off and thought this would be a good idea. So my DS (on my instruction) screen off the opening from the adults. We used an old window screen and duct tape since it was temporary. That is where I went wrong. They did fine last night. They were fine this afternoon and before dinner. But about half hour ago, my DS went to check on them an came in shouting he hated his guineas. They screen was knocked in and the babies were on the ground lifeless.
My older DS went in to get them and 1 of them Hershey was still alive but pretty beaten up. We got Hershey's wounds cleaned and applied Neosporin without pain killers and sprayed with red kote. Gave a little sugar water and is in a pet crate with a heat lamp. I'm so upset. This is totally my fault. I should have made a better seperation pen.
Looks like we will be looking at more keets soon. He really liked these ones as they were different from his others. Feeling like such a bad mom.
