Per suggestions on this site, last night I set up a wire cage with food and water and took Brown Betty out of her nest and put her in the cage. It was dark so she didn't give me to much of a hard time.

The thing that is bothering me is the 10 eggs I took out from under her. Seven of them had veins growing. I obviously left this to long

I felt like I was murdering those unformed chicks. The worst part of this whole thing is I have 2 month old chicks from this same group of hens and roosters whom I love to death and I know the eggs I took from Betty would of been the same

My DH kinda waved me off when I told him how I was feeling so I thought I'd mention it here where you guys would know how I feel.

I'm sorry for your loss. Brown Betty will feel better once she is back to laying and those little eggs were not yet chicks, just the potential for chicks. And you have the 2month olds to care for. Don't let yourself hurt for the decisions you have to make. Just go forward with your beautiful hen and your chickies.

Mourn for a bit, but don't brood. Otherwise, we'll have to put you in a wire cage and dunk your bottom in cold water. No, wait, that's for the hen.

It's okay to feel sad for a loss, but be happy for what is still there.
