Hi everyone. I’m not sure if this is the best forum to post this, but I have a little mini success to share from tonight. First I have a few girls actively going through molt right now, and one who had already finished and came back into lay, but seems to be going for round two!
My poor Ruby is taking her molt very hard. She hasn’t really been eating feed in days, and is first to bed every night, seemingly earlier each night. Tonight I got home at around 5:40 PM and was disappointed to discover she had already put herself to bed again. I opened up a can of tuna to try to get her to eat, and she ignored it. A little freaked out that she was feeling too lousy even for tunafish, I ran into the house, cracked an egg, and brought the yolk back out to her. And she ate it! She inhaled it! I ran inside to grab her a second whole egg, but when I came out, she had come outside and was having a little free range time with the girls. I am so happy! She’s finding grass and seeds, so at least she’ll have a tiny bit of sustenance before she goes to bed. It’s a good day! Thanks for letting me share!
