Feisty duckling

Hi again everyone! I have 2 ducklings I got from my feed store that are about a week old now. The one I absolutely had to have is a pure black beauty! And whenever I hold this adorable little thing it nibbles and tugs on me. Which is cute now, but I'm a little worried that it might be aggressive as it gets older. Any thoughts? This is the first duckling I've ever had to do this. Thank you!

Ducklings like all Babies put everything in their mouths. That's how they explore. Shake its bill and say no. Don't create a monster...

Ducklings are extremely mouthy and they like to nibble/test everything. As @chickens really stated, that's how they explore.

I don’t think at a week old it’s necessary to shake its bill and say no. Better to just keep those things you don’t want it to nibble on out of its way. That’s how they learn what’s good to eat and what isnt.

I agree. Ducklings will be ducklings and my adult ducks are still mouthy, but they don't mean any harm. They are just being ducks.
