Zorro, my second in command rooster, has recently taken on the job of making sure the hens get into the coop every night. He's doing great with it, since my alpha said "ah, you deal with it". I have one particular red star that LOVES to jump in and out a million times, so he's got his work cut out for him lol.
Tonight I went to do a head count and lock them up and there's poor little Zorro, on the lowest roost and all the others up on the highest and longest roost {can def. accommodate all of them} but it is sort "V" shaped. Felt bad for the boy, he's pretty sweet albeit it incredibly nervous - I've never had to grab him, nor get after him about any thing. I climb in the coop to turn up their fan and he turns around with his back to me so I grabbed him and put him up on the roost with a couple of hens on it which is where he usually is. My god did he holler like I was skinning him alive, lol, poor thing I never heard one of them make those sounds lol.
Here's a pic of little guy I took two days ago.
