Hello,
I have a cockatiel I adopted a few years ago. She should be about 8-9 years old now. She will whistle a couple tunes and say a couple phrases. I only catch her doing this every once in a while. The previous owner said she would do this daily when they had her. Anyone know if this has potential for concern??
Thank you
Stacey

no harm...
females arnt known for their mimicing abilities in general...
but most birds talk/whistle to get attention...typically when there bored...i talk i get a responce kind of behaviour...
so the fact shes not doing is as much in your home makes me think shes getting alot more attention with you

I have 4 girl tiels that were born from one of my pairs. One of the girls whistles constantly and all tunes she learned from Dad. The others dont whistle much. Enjoy the whistleing. Much better then screaming for attention.

Thank you for your comments. I was not concerned until I spoke with the previous owner and she said ZaZu would whistle and talk every day. I like hearing her talk, kinda hard to understand sometimes.
