Female Coturnix Noises

Hi all,

I notice that every now and again some of my females will start making a noise louder than their normal chatter, they stretch themselves up tall and make this noise over and over for 10 seconds or so, then settle back down and carry on their business. It's like a loud cricket kind of noise, or a phone ringing lol. I have youtubed male quails crowing and it's definitely not that noise. What do you think it means? Are they distressed? Calling out for a mate?

Any suggestions welcomed.

I believe thats just quail being quail. Stretching is supposed to be a good sign and as long as they look relaxed it should be ok. Now if they do it and everyone else freezes, it is a warning of some kind and you should watch to see what has there attention
