Barry still hasn't found a new mate so I thought I'd share a little about him, he's 6 yrs old, lost his mate 2 yrs ago, lives in Missouri and managed well in the horrible winter weather here. He's desperate enough for company that he has become friends with the Canada Geese

He is quite a catch for a lovely girl and likes to show off

He's in his prime and loves to show off his physique

He lives in a nice farm neighborhood with dogs who would protect him and the other poultry here with their lives

And he has not one but 2 ponds, both at the back yard where they can be enjoyed and protected.

I'm on some waiting lists but so far, no single ladies have applied here. If you, or someone you know, has a single female Mute Swan needing to relocate, please PM me

Thank you!

I found your ad while searching for a male for a friend of mine. We are also in Missouri, Ava. He has a nice lake at his house also. MDC brings school children to his house for conservation programs and fishing. John is in need of a male for his sweet female who lost her mate. If you ever decide to let your male go we would be interested. Thank you.

Sherrie,
Thank you, I should update this posting. I did find a female. Her name is Rachel and she and Barry have spent the summer bonding. They were even really good with the Canada Geese that raise their babies here every year. I expect we will be hatching next spring, check back then. We will be selling any cygnets we raise here and there aren't breeders in this part of Missouri that I know of so they won't need shipping.

Here are Barry and Rachel shortly after she arrived. They immediately "liked" each other but the longer she's been here now, the more bonded they seem.

Here they are the day that all of the area geese dropped in to take a look at the new baby geese. They were here about an hour, swam with the parents and young geese then left and didn't return. It was an obvious "visit" to the new family. SO cool to watch them. They didn't return either. The young geese learned to fly and haven't been back. I'd say the parents are preparing them now for migration. The parents return each spring but do not allow any other geese on our pond.

Rachel and Barry may become more territorial if they choose this pond to nest by. They have a smaller pond in the yard and another pond on the hill in the woods so I have no idea where they will decide to nest but I plan to make the one in the yard as hospitable as possible so they will be close to the house. I put out straw and some bamboo limbs for them this spring and Barry played with building a nest but they just were not quite bonded enough for that. I'll post updates here in the spring when and if they do nest.

Here is Barry with the Geese and their nearly grown babies shortly before they left here.
