Female turkey standing weird

She just started standing like this out of no where, I was wondering if maybe it was a mating thing? She is about 6 months old and our male BBW just started doing his dance recently too. I have never had turkey's before and have mainly been around male turkeys so I wasn't sure

They will stand like that when they are hot.

Idk I just thought it was weird, it's not as hot as it had been and it's how she normally stands when I can tell she is hot so I didn't figure that. They love to go stand and lay in their kiddie pool when it is hot out though! Our hen just started laying eggs, I figured they were all just "becoming adults" lol

My females will display like males sometimes, maybe that's what she is doing, I can really see the difference with a broad breasted, she looks heavy.

Gerri is pretty big, my father in law has a tom (not sure of breed, he was rescued from becoming dinner) that is almost half her size. But she's not even as big as our Tom is, he is enormous. I would show a picture of him but it's not showing me the pic icon to post :/

I can see why they develop leg problems, and why they have heart attacks, she's pretty though.

Yeah it's pretty sad for a lot of them, they are bred to be eaten so people fatten them up even more. We don't plan on that so I make sure they don't over eat and have a good diet

And thank you, I think she is pretty too! When she's not trying to snatch an eyeball out of my head that is. Good thing I wear glasses!

It's a shame the BB don't live as long, it's the same turkey personally, they really are a interesting and interactive species of poultry. My chickens don't care what I'm doing but the turkeys always curious, mine love the sound of construction.
