I went to feed my turkeys this morning and the Tom's head was all bloody. He is in a pen with 4 hens. Would the hens do this. The cage I very secure and I didn't see any holes. One of the hens looked like she had blood on her face. The tom looks like he is in bad shape butthe only iinjuries are on his head. I put him in a different cage. I just don't understand what happened.

Are the hens laying? Are they all the same age and size? How much room do they have in the run? There are a lot of reasons, but a hen will try to protect her nest, especially if crowded or broody.
