We're considering getting ducks this year, and would appreciate advice on fencing. We just need fence that will keep them in, predators aren't a problem here during the day and they'll be locked in the coop at night. Will a 4' wire fence keep Khaki Campbell ducks in? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that should be fine. I had one Khaki fly over a six foot fence but she was young and light, took off on a hill, and caught an updraft. I clipped the feathers on one of her wings and she hasn’t really flown since (3 years later). She is too heavy now. I only have a three foot fence, but it works. It is 1” mesh, stapled to cedar fence boards, nailed to 4x4 posts.

My current fence looks very similar to the one above, except I used 2x4 welded wire and I think mine is about 42" tall. But before that, when cost was more of an issue, I had 2x2s driven in the ground with poultry wire stapled to them. Looked super-cheap and crappy but it kept them in the yard. :idunno Poultry wire doesn't hold up well to a weed eater though, lol, and deer jumping over the fence mangled it quite a bit.
