Fencing

I may be way out there but my goal is to keep my girls as safe as I can. My wife built a very nice coop.We then bucked it up against a old 4x8x8 dog pen. I bought some of the electic plastis fencing you see advertised in chicken mags . I then went out and bought the best and stongest energizer I could find and it does not work. The fence that is. I forgot to say I have a solar energized. Trust me I have way more fence then I need about 164 feet and I really need only about 40 feet if that much. Has anybody else ever bought this stuff and got it to work? Then can I cut it down so The fence does not hang on the ground. The polls.they send are way to week

We had a similar problem. Used a 4 ft cause we already had it and it just wasn't strong enough. Used a 8 ft. one when we put our fence up and just used one line to try to keep the horses off the fence. It really worked.

How have you tested it??? Did you take your shoe off and place your foot on the ground before you touched it??? Did you make sure the wire is not touching the fencing any where's?? Have had that happen and it shorted it out didn't realize it!
