I agree, there's a possibility, but more often than not, they're like dogs...they'll stay where there is an easy meal. I know that the game wardens here will destroy wild turkeys that hang out where people feed them. I'm not sure why, but I think it may be because they could lose their fear of humans and come to depend on them for food, kind of like bears, etc.
Those turkey's are killed becouse:
They can spread diseases to tame turkeys
They can interbreed with the tame turkeys, which is not wanted. It weakends the wild turkeys bloodlines.
Most domesticated turkeys wont make it out in the wild very long. They are too big and too slow.Most domestic turkeys are so heavy they are unable to fly. They spend their nights in low branches of trees which means easy pickings for the wildlife.
