Just a quick question - my fermented feed develops a gray"scum" on top - is this safe? I read somewhere that it's just a yeast by-product, but it seems weird. Just need to know if I should dump it and start over.

A photo of the scum would be helpful to identify what sort of mould it is. Can you take one and post it here?

I also let the chickens have it.

If it is a very light coating, it is likely fine. I see that after 2 days of fermenting. A picture would be helpful.
