Hello,

I know this may sound like a silly question but...

Do you still get fertilised eggs in summer and into autumn?

I am asking this because I wanted to hatch some frizzle bantams from fertile eggs that my neighbour has got but I wanted to hatch them out from a broody hen. As I don't have an incubator. Would my neighbour still get fertile eggs in summer or autumn when a few of my hens will be broody?

My experience has been, if you have a rooster and less than 20 or so hens, you've got fertile eggs

Older roosters do slow down sometimes in the fall, but even my 4 year old guy kept pretty much all the eggs fertile. Some different breeds have lower fertility, and the frizzle may have that issue, so you'll just have to talk to your neighbor and see what their experience has been.

OK thank you for the info. I will ask :-)
