I have a golden sebright bantam rooster. He is 22 weeks old. I also have 7 hens with him (2 dark brahmas, 2 black australorps, 2 production reds and 1 sebright (not yet laying).

He has tried mounting the hens several times that I have seen. I'm really not too sure if he is successful because of the major size difference.

I received a very tiny egg yesterday. It was the wrong color to be from my sebright hen, but I was wondering if he was to fertilize my hens eggs, will the hens eggs be smaller? Because the rooster is a bantam, the chicks will be smaller too. But will I have a small chick in a large egg? Or will the hens just produce smaller eggs?

I cracked an egg open the other day and I could see a very, very faint ring around the white speck that is usually in the egg. I could only see it if the light hit it right. Does this mean the eggs may be fertile?

Thank you.

Yes it is probably fertile. And no the eggs will be sized for the hen laying them. It has nothing to do with the size of the roo. When hens first start laying you may get some very strange looking eggs. They shouldnt be allowed to set on eggs till they are a normal size and shape.
