So. Tomorrow I’m going to open up a few eggs to see if the rooster has been doing his job. These eggs have not been incubated, and are purely intended for eating. I’ll get pictures in the morning.

So. Sapphire gem egg was fertile . Regular brown (RIR?) egg was fertile . Moonshine’s egg was also fertile !

Congrats, but I'm curious - what does it matter if the rooster is mounting the hens if you're not going to hatch any chicks? If chicks aren't a goal, making fertile eggs isn't on a rooster's "good boy" list.

The eggs that I cracked were purely for eating in the first place. I will hatch eggs, and I wanted to know if I would have to buy hatching eggs
