We can’t have a cockerel due to neighbours but I really want to get fertile eggs from our gals. Any suggestions. Is there a way to get around not being able to have a cockerel or is it buy hatching eggs forever?

One issue I'd consider is biosecurity. Flocks can have flock immunity to some diseases or parasites. No matter what, they will not come down with it but they can pass the disease or parasite to another chicken without immunity. It might even be your flock that is the carrier. Some people don't worry about it and often do not have a serious problem but occasionally a flock gets wiped out because of a disease. Personally I would not transport my flock to someone that had a rooster for a day or two but some people would.

Have you considered artificial insemination? Can you obtain from neighbors or buy rooster sperm and inseminate them yourself. I don't know how long or under what conditions the sperm would stay viable but you might want to investigate how to get viable sperm. The process itself isn't hard, it's getting viable sperm.
