Fertile eggs?

Anybody know how long after my quails start laying for the first time will the eggs be fertile?

This may not be the going rate but I set my first eggs about 4 weeks after they started laying. I had an 80% fertility rate with a 2:1 bird ratio in my pens.

I couldn't resist putting the first egg my quail laid into the incubator. It hatched, but the chick inside was really weak and only lived about an hour.

If your roo is livin' up to his end of the bargain they are very likely fertile when they hit the wire cage bottom.... fertility is rarely an issue with any speces of quail unless there are too many hens for the roo or stimulating them to lay with artificial light.
