Hi everyone. I'm 99% sure this isn't fertile. Please help me put my mind to rest. I have a super broody silkie. She won't leave this 1 egg alone. My heart breaks for her. Shes been sitting for over a week now.

Thank you. I do have a rooster but suspect he hasn't covered her. I have a lady in town with silkies, after much much hunting she can possibly help me. If I go eggs,I'll give her a good batch to hatch. It's a dud.
Do you have a rooster?
I would toss the egg and break the broody.
She should be permitted to set just one egg anyway. The last thing you want to do is intentionally hatch a lone chick.
Give her 1 or 2 LESS eggs than she can cover. You will also need to consider how many birds you can have in your flock and have a plan for what you will do with the cockerels that hatch.her a good batch to hatch
For sure. She's a first time layer.Give her 1 or 2 LESS eggs than she can cover. You will also need to consider how many birds you can have in your flock and have a plan for what you will do with the cockerels that hatch.
Good luck.
