fertilizing grass, treating weeds - keeping chickens safe

We are planning on hiring a yard guy to fertilize our sod and treat our weeds (kill our weeds that is). What do I ned to know concerning our chickens? They will not free range but we do not have the run fencing up yet. Will it be ok to treat the run area or should we avoid it?

I personally wouldn't treat the run or any area where your chickens will be grazing. We do not treat our backyard, which is where our girls free-range.
