Anyone familiar with Fibro Easter Egger breed? I have one 15 weeks old that I just started to wonder if it is a rooster. I ordered all females though. But I've never had Fibros before so not sure on its gender. It is very mean to others, beating everyone up....all hens are very terrified of him/her. It doesn't have any pointy feathers yet, and not crowing. But its tail, and body shape reminds me of a rooster. Please help. If it's a boy, I'll have to find a new home for him before it starts crowing. Thank you so much

Hi! To me it definitely looks like a rooster, and it does have the body shape and tail that cockerels have . So it probably will start crowing soon. It just depends on how fast it is maturing . And even how you are describing the personality sounds like a young cockerel. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Thank you! Usually roosters are protecting their hens. Why does he beat them up? He just recently started doing that...do you know what could cause that?

So, he could just be proving his dominance , but also you need to make sure they are all getting the proper diet. If he was older it could be because he is trying to mate with the hens. But also some roosters are just mean in general because they are males and the hormones . I have herd of people putting them in a completely dark cage for 24 hours to kinda naturally “ castrate” them, but that would mean he might not be able to reproduce, but it could help with the attitude. Sorry if it a lot, if it doesn’t make sense just let me know and I can explain it a bit more.

One way you can tell if the back feathers are way shine-y-er than a females. I do see a shimmer.

I don't see pointy bottom feathers yet.

I think I have to try that, putting him in a dark cage. Everyone is scared to go and eat, he beats them up immediately. Today I was holding him in my hands for a while, and girls started eating but when I let him go, they started running away from a feeder🙄

I have a few of Fibros and their feathers are really shiny eith tinted green😊

Oh jeeze. Yeah, definitely try putting him in a completely dark cage for 24 hours ( food and water can be included ). But just know, he could maybe not be able to fertilize eggs . But it definitely could help with his attitude. And the chicken definitely looks like a cockerel to me, especially his upright posture, and the feathers near the tail base. Just make sure if he is really hurting the hens to remove him asap. And also try to do a lot more holding and handling him, this could help with his attitude. It worked with one of my cockerels.

Thank you so much for your help! I'll have to look for a new home for him I guess. Since I am not allowed to keep roosters where I live. If he won't be able to fertilize eggs, people might not want that kind of a rooster lol

Yeah. I am sorry you can’t keep him. But since he is a fibro Easter egger he might be a bit more wanted . I love fibro Easter eggers. I have regular Easter eggers though.

And no problom. I hope you can find him a new home. Good luck with your flock. God bless you.
