I have 2 roosters 2 months old and 1 that is one month. The older ones are already fighting. Do I have to keep them separated? I would like to keep them until they are old enough to eat, but, I'm running out of cages. When I had them hatched I just wanted to add to my layers. Now I have 2 roosters and one hen from the 1st batch and 2 hens and 1 rooster from the 2nd batch. I suppose I should have had hatched eggs in one large group instead of 2 smaller groups. Do you have to change out your rooster at any time? Mine is a fine foghorn with a lovely temperament.

Eventually the leghorn roo will not be fertile (some say as old as 7 years but fertility seems to drop at age 4-5 years), but that's a way off. the chicks are not hurting each other leave them alone, once you teach that

"Fighting = other rooster leaving" it's harder to work with.

If there is no blood I leave mine, I have three roos at the moment, a 4 year old, a 3 year old and one about one year, they do not fight.
