So at this point we have daylight from 7-6 (11 hrs at best). So one of my girlie rebels decides she wants to lay her first egg on the first day of snow. Go figure, Born in May, been waiting all summer, figured I'd get an egg in Sept. No, today. Pretty little white egg about the size of a chickens (I don't have chickens). Also layed beside the pool on sand. It'll be interesting to see if this is a one off situation. bizarre. Anyway I have 2 Cayuga girls and I know their eggs are purpleish. I also have one buff (my miracle child) and I figure it's hers. An interesting surprise when I was just getting depressed about winter.

I have two Cayuga's in the same pen eating the same food and one lays a white egg while the other lays a brown egg. Both hens look exactly alike, so don't count them out just yet. They are both still laying an egg each day and we have had snow also.
