Filling in holes dug by ducks

Hi guys, so I have 6 ducks in with my chicken's and I have noticed slowly since April that they've been digging little holes here and there. I've watched them do it everyday when I change their swimming pool. Now though it's taken over the whole yard and the smallest holes are about the size of a snake hole. I was wanting to fill in these holes with something, gravel or sand maybe, but I wondered if anyone else has done this and their advise?? I know in the long haul, ducks will be ducks and they'll do it again, but if I can not give myself a broken ankle between now and then, that'd be awesome. At least that's my goal lol thanks everybody!!

I have pea gravel over my girls' drilling spots. Super easy to take back over the holes....every day, because there's no stopping the drilling

Do you mean the holes are being made when you dump out the pool and the ground is wet?....That cant be helped unless you keep them off the area till the ground is dry....Yes, you can fill the holes back in with what ever you decide?....If it's your lawn?...I just fill in the holes with dirt and the grass will grow back over the patches...
Silly Ducks!

I just put potting soil back into mine. We could play 18 holes of golf out in our duck yard, their holes are regulation size! They love drilling, esp. when there is water making it easier. I can't get mad at my ducks for doing it, they have SO much fun. So, I just use the soil to fill in a few, and sometimes will fence the ducks off in a newer area for a while. We have 1/3 of our backyard fenced for them, and have made other little paddocks (here and again) for getting grass to come back up after they've eaten it to the stubs. :)
