Hello

I am new to this website and have some questions for those with more experience in keeping ducks.

I have two ducks, a male and female. I have a large pond for my ducks in the summer and they are very content with. I am unable to get them in their fenced in area at night and am a little concerned due to a recent coyote siting. Any suggestions for getting my skidish ducks in their area at night?

Second question: This past winter was my first with the ducks. My husband added a small landscaping pond to their fenced in area and a small water heater to keep the water from freezing. It all seemed great until I realized how dirty it was. I bought a landscaping pond filtration system for it, but it clogged several times and was not able to keep the water clean. Any tips for keeping the small pond clean?

Pump it out a wash it down at this point most likely. You can use like a pool vac wand with a brush to help get it clean easier. Not much else you can really do but dig in a drain. I havent found a filter yet ducks wont clog. Or any easier way to clean one.

I had a sand filter, the kind you use on a pool. It work well in the beginning, but I had to backwash it a couple of times per day to keep it flowing well. I was using it on an 8 foot round x 3 ft. deep stock tank. After a while, running that pump 24 hrs got to be expensive, so I decided to go with just having two seperate smaller pools that I could just empty once a week or so and refill it.
