Finalizing of coop questions

I would recommend electrified poultry netting for a run. You can surround a much bigger area for less$$, than a wood framed hardware clothe run. I have all kinds of ground preds here, except for bear, and this fence has protected my birds, going on 4yrs. I started with 300' of it, and have since bought 350' more, to expand the range a bit. You can power it with 110V house current, or go with solar. As far as the birds hurting themselves, with the fence. I found they quickly learn the fence bites, and they don't get into it.

We already spent the time digging 4x4 post holes could I still use this stuff? Where did you get it never heard of it. My run is about 110ft. So you dont need a roof?

I got the fence from a company called Premier.

No need to dig any post holes with this fence, just step it in. Can't get any easier. I don't have anything overhead here as far as a roof goes. The birds hang out in a brushy area behind the coop, as well as under the coop itself, to hide from any airborne threats.
As seen in the pic below. This fence has proven itself against fox, and a bunch of dogs. They get in excess of 7000Vs to the face, they lose all interest in chickens.

Also I am in the pacific northwest so very rainy here so would like to roof part of my run just not all of it. Could I use the electric stuff on the lower half of my fencing and then run 2x4 across and put a different netting up higher so I can then attach a roof?

Sure you could. You would of course, have to support the roof with separate posts, because the poultry net posts aren't going to support any extra load themselves. I'll tell you, having this fence sure beats digging post holes, or having to add aprons to the bottom of regular fencing to keep preds from digging under. Very easy and quick to set up, and it does the job.

What does your entry gate into the run look like jack? Seems like the "battery" is alot of the $$ What items on top of the actual fencing did you have to buy from that website so I can get a better idea on costs. I would use a battery pack not solar...we dont get a ton of sun ha!

Premier has a neat little gate kit you can buy. The gate is electrified, but has one plastic post with a handle on top, that clips onto the gate/fence support post. No need to turn off the fence to enter. Just unclip and go in. Just don't let your elbow get into the fence when entering, that'll wake you up.

I bought from Premier, along with the fence, the Kube fence charger(110VAC), gate kit, ground rods, and fiberglass posts for extra support in the corners. The grass is dead around the perimeter of the fence, because I sprayed it with Roundup. I got tired of pulling and moving the fence every week or so to mow the perimeter grass. Tall grass will ground out and weaken the fence's charge.
