So, I've been aroudn a while, had chickens when we lived i nthe city, but I gave them all away so I could sell our house and get MOVED!!! That's right we Gave away all our birds to a friend that had her own coop, and we cleaned up everything and sold our house so we could get the hell outta dodge and abandon the city life! Well we sold and moved last July and have been in fix and repair mode ever since. Then March hit and I said "That's it I'm buying chicks and building a brooder!!! I went just a smidge overboard. 27 various hens and 4 turkeys, 4 ducks, and 4 guineas! (guess I shoulda rounded them out to an even 40 huh. anyways We just finally got our coop put up ( I made a 12x8 building using some of the scrap materials left on our property by the old owners, and we had to tear out an old dilapidated coop (unusable and rotten) but I had my son work on it while I worked, and we got a lot of scrap tin saved, salvaged some lumber and disassembled and entire old treated wood deck made of 2x8's and 2x6's to convert into an aviary and used the 2x8's for the floor frame of the entire shed/coop. Anyway, I was super happy to announce we now have all our birbs in the coop, and by the end of the week we should be finishing and opening the aviary to the entire flock!!! I'm expecting eggs some time around late June early July, can't wait!
