Hi everyone. I've been surfing BYC for awhile now, joined in Mar and am now finally getting around to the intro. This is my 2nd yr raising chickens, lots of lessons learned! Lost a lot of them last year to various things and hopefully we'll do better this year. I currently have somewhere around 34 chickens of various ages, mostly chicks. They consist of 2(down from 8) leghorns-they were SO good at laying that I sold 6 as I was swimming in eggs!) , a RIR hen, Gold laced Wyndotte roo, Black Marans roo, bantam smooth silky roo, bantam ? Bramha hen, 6 Black copper Marans chicks, 7 Amerucana chicks, 3 black mixed silky chicks- they were reported to come from silky,polish& frizzle stock, 12 Freedom Ranger chicks, 5 turkeys(2 are chicks) , a young pair of Tolbunt Polish chickens, a pair of Golden Pheasants and an India Blue Peacock! I also have 6 parrots,5 cats, 4 rabbits, 3 Leopard Geckos, 2 dogs, 1 Ball Python( and a partrige in a pair tree) as well as 2 boys both in their 20's and 2 "strays"- homeless 20 something young men who were friends of my sons and now are part of the family. We live in south central Pa one 1 acre of land that we are slowly converting into our Homestead.Started with chickens, on to meat rabbits and eventually to goats!
