:frow Hi all. I've been holding off asking but hoping that now we can have a good guess on sexes? From my 2nd broody I have 5 live chicks - they are now 8.5 weeks old. Thanks to handy feather colours I'm blessed that my only Faverolles that made it is a girl :ya- meet Chloe:

Her other 4 siblings consist of 1 white (possibly with some splash of grey I think) Orpington, a grey coloured Orp, a 2nd grey coloured orp with more lacing detail on the feathers and then an Australorp. I have tried to take some pics today so hoping you can help out. I have my thoughts at this stage purely based on wattle colour and leg / body size but I'm a total newbie and have never had an Orpington or Australorp before! What do you guys think? Sorry the pics aren't fabulous - I took loads and thought I was good but they didn't turn out as well as I'd have liked! I can go and get more if you need anything specifically to get a closer / better shot of.

  1. White splash Orpington:

  • 2 - The first of the grey orps - slightly lighter in colour and not as much lacing around the feathers:

  • 3 - The 2nd grey coloured - darker and more detail in the feathers (sorry seemed I didn't get an alone one of this chick!):

#2 is the one to watch. It has more comb and much bigger wattles than the others. But, to me anyway, it is still borderline. So keep an eye on that comb and those wattles. If they get bigger and color up in the next few weeks, you likely have a cockerel.

Thanks everyone :ya
I believe #2 is male, but all the rest look like pullets to me. They're a lovely group. Is the 'white' Orp a Splash, do you think, since it hatched with the blues?
That is what I'm thinking too, it is bigger than the others and comb is bigger too. And yes it is a spash although very few dark patches at this stage, I edited my post

I thought I was too lucky to have got 4/5 pullets (although got 2/3 cockerels on the 1st batch) so really exciting to hear you all thinking the same :yaI purposely didn't put what I thought! Interesting to think there is still possible doubt on #2 as well - 5/5 would be amazing!
