Finally in the coop!

We finally finished the coop, and the silkies are loving their new digs. I have the small brooder with the 2.5 week old BRs in the coop with them so they can not only share the heat lap in the cool evenings but also to keep them thinking about each other as one big happy chicken family.

The 3 new chicks arrive next week. This is so exciting!!!!

Hopelessly!

And, what with recent bouts with both pasty butts and a very scary impacted crop (resolved, by the way, with 5cc of olive oil via syringe down the gullet and massages every couple of hours for two days), I am now considering a new carreer in chicken medicine!!

My new chics are probably going to have new and exciting ways of scaring me to death!
