I love BYC and never thought to join until this morning. I have city chicks- and in good company on my block- I can count 3 other urban chicken farmers from my front porch. I have had my two big girls (black austrolorps) for 2 years now. We also had a silver lace wyandotte that went rooster on us and moved to a farm down in the columbia gorge- a fitting landscape for such a magnificent bird. Yesterday I brought home a day old buff orpington and a silver lace wyandotte. We slipped them under my chronically broody Girl last night. I am patiently waiting to see what happens. Nervous nelly about it right now but trying to give it some time. If I had my dream- I would have goats, alpacas, horses, and of course lots and lots more chickens- and we would live happily ever after on a lovely farm in the big sur, CA area. Portland, Or ain't bad though. I also have a sweet husband (the handyman that built our coop) and my 4 year old son (who sings and tells stories to the girls). In the past I have gleaned much appreciated insight from the BYC community- no longer a voyeur now, I can participate.
