Hi , My name is Shayne . My husband and I finally took the dive and welcomed 6 baby chicks into our family , Our 4 kids are thrilled. We have 3 White Leghorns and 3 Red Sex-links ( i think is what they were called ) . The leghorns are going on 2 weeks old , while the Reds are coming up on a week old .
they have been going pretty smooth for the last few day , they are in a Rubbermaid tote turned brooder box , all the "regular" stuff needed , heat lamp , pine shavings etc.. I am currently working on a "chicken tractor " it should be done tomorrow , and then on to the finishing the coop , we are turning a 6x4 dog run into the yard of a coop. that will be here in the upcoming week .
I am excited to learn more about how to keep our ladies happy and keep us in eggs

kids are daughter 11 , and 3 sons ages 6 , 4, and 14 months
we live in city limits so these are true suburban , backyard chickens
we also have a sugar glider , 2 cats Joplin and Zepplin ( primarily indoor ) , a dog named Yodi ( in her own run )
I am a stay at home mom , David is a Machinest and currently studying for his electrician's lic.
regular , down to earth people , who would love to have a "real farm" in the next 5 years
