I was always using this forum to look at advice and opinions given to others on things. About time I finally joined the flock here!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My family just started our flock in March of this year. We moved into a new home with 4 acres of land and were eager to get started with our farm, so chickens were our first priority!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
As of yesterday, we have 13 chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Gonna just list names too.
We have... Percy and Maxwell the buff silkie roosters, Fluffy and Baby the light brahmas, Comet the golden comet, Roxy the barred rock, Sunny the buff orpington, Jolene the blue laced red wyandotte, Kitty the jersey giant, and as of yesterday we welcomed in Robin the ameraucana, Lady (short for bearded lady) the salmon faverolle, Princess Fluffbutt the white frizzle cochin bantam, and Lil Bit the quail belgian bearded d'anver bantam.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Always showed up when we were first researching chickens, now I always look to here for guidance and advice on all things chicken!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am a freelance artist and am also studying at the moment to become a veterinary technician. (fingers crossed I'll be there 2 years from now!)
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
As I said above, my family just moved into a 4 acre plot of land in our new home in October and have been building up our farm from that day forward! I live with my mother, father, and two younger siblings. I kind of shared my occupation and... I guess side business up above.
As for other animals, we have our 13 chickens and 2 goats (with our doe expecting babies!) as livestock. Then as PETS we have... 2 dogs, 2 cats (maybe 3, there's a foster kitten we're still thinking on), 2 geckos, and my cockatiel.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
All sort of stated above! I finally joined because I finally found a question I needed to ask that hadn't been asked before. Guess I'll stay a while and chat!
