I have 3 hens and 3 araucana pullets that one of the hen hatched when she was broody.
Today one of the ara pullet laid an egg yeah!!!
I was there with them and went away to refill one of their wateter. When I came back less than 5 minutes later I found a tiny blue egg near the other waterer outside.
It's the first and I believe was totally unexpected.
I hope the pullet will learn to lay in the nest boxes.
The hens do lay inside and did from the beginning. The boxes are comfy and safe and in a dark spot. I placed a couple of fake eggs lately for the pullets.
Is there anything else I can do?
Where the free range there are a couple of trees but not bushes to hide the eggs.
Pictures of my 4 eggs today :):D

Congrats!
They should pick up on using the coop nests, might take a bit tho.

I'd keep an eye out tho, if they do start laying out in range area you may have to lock 'em up until they get with the program.
Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop for a week or so can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop and maybe run 24/7 for a few days to a week, provided you have adequate space and ventilation, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.
