I am soo happy. I had let my ducks out on the pond about a month ago and still no eggs...well I was really getting down in the dumps. A little while ago I decided to go into the garage to look because I had seen the female duck in the garage a few times just walking around..well I went in and was about to turn around and go back outside when I looked and saw an olive green sort of egg....and picked it up and it had a waxy feel just like you all said it would and I just started smiling from ear to ear....now if she can just go to one of the shrubs and make a nest, I will be very excited.....

Wooo!
Congratulations!
hopfully you'll get a broody duck soon

Thanks. I had almost given up hope on them laying...so far just the one hen that I know of is laying. I walk around the pond each day looking for nest under the rose bushes or Quince bushes....but so far nothing. Just the one laying in the garage.

YaY! I am hoping my day is soon. I am seeing mating going on right now but we just had snow again last night. Soon I hope!

Funny you should mention snow because it snowed here Sunday and that is when I went out and found the egg in the garage. Yesterday I went out on my way to work and looked in the garage and she was on the nest, she saw me and got off...that evening nothing. Today I got home and looked in the garage again and there was another egg, but under a shelf in a little cleared out spot.

I built our muscovies enclosed nest boxe that they love. The boxes are about 2 feet long and 16 inches tall and deep. I cut a round hole at one end of a long side and made a hinged lid. I bet if you make a box like that and put it in the garage, she will love it...will make it easier for you to protect her when she goes broody.
