My leghorn layed her first egg this morning

She had been a very nervous, pacing, balking chicken every morning. Running around the coop, checking out all the corners, egg boxes....balking the entire time. Finally this morning she was quietly laying in the nest box. This is what she produced.

I had told her the night before she better get down to business soon. I guess she listened, hope the rest of the pullets follow her lead.

Yay! My oldest 3 are almost 23 weeks and I don't have an egg yet. I'm hearing the egg song for two days and they've been pacing every morning for a week. They've got to lay for me soon I'd think.

Nice egg you have in your hand. It looks big to me.

I am not sure. I saw one go at an auction for $100, no way was I going to pay that. I have bought three different ones on e-bay and didn't pay over $25 for any of them. This one must be somewhat old because I am sure Sears and Roebuck haven't been selling egg scales for a long while.

I collect chicken stuff for fun - not for investment. I love the older egg scales.

Congrats! That's a nice size for a first egg! You'll have to come talk to my pullets........They've layed some pretty small eggs at first.....
