You have no idea how i've been waiting for the coop construction to begin! I had such a wonderful day that I had to share it with everyone.....

We began by moving this entire struction from it's original location to this more peaceful one that we can see from our living room windows. The base frame was put together using recycled 6x6 landscaping timbers. We put the coop floor on using salvaged 2x4's and OSB board. I decided to give the floor a paint job to help with moisture. But might be adding some stickdown linolium tiles on top of that, since the cost is much cheaper than a solid piece of linolium.

Here is my DH framing the front wall of the coop. The back wall is standing. It's taking some shape.

We have three framed walls up now. Had to quit earlier than we wanted, my DH had to go to work. More pictures to come when we get more work done.
(I hate typo's - so I had to come back and edit this post!)

We were planning on just painting the plywood, but not sure now after looking at other's coops. We'll see how it looks when we are done. We may actually have enough siding from our house to complete the coop.

Nothing wrong with primer and paint...I am doing mine that way too.

That is a great start for one day and it looks like it is going to be fairly big.

Hello again....just showing our updates.
My DH was able to get the last wall framed and put the rafters up. We decided to go with the single slant roof because it was more cost effective and quicker.

We began putting the plywood up. All four walls are completed and we will begin on the roof tomorrow.

I had to add this photo in. My daughter is getting a jump start to the egg collecting....even though we told her it will be a while yet. And what's up with the hat?

The coop is 5'x8' and the run is 10'x10'. I hope that this is big enough for what we want.
