I have been waiting (impatiently) for all my girls to start laying. First it was one of the jumbos. Took forever but she finally did. I get 7 eggs from that pen in the evening, then I have 2 waiting for me in the morning. There are 9 girls in this pen.
The A&Ms started with a bang, all within a week of each other.
The two tuxedo hens have been laying like clockwork for months, almost everyday.
The golden, rosetta, tuxedo rosetta, and the pharoah have all started laying.
Even the one dark tibetan hen has been laying for a few weeks.

But....I still had one. This one was another dark tibetan. I almost sold her as an 'extra roo', but thanks to Niki's vent sexing posts, I was pretty sure she was a girl. I'm just glad I checked them all as I was snatching them for the buyer, I had been just going by # of eggs. At that time, I was only getting 1 from the other dark tibe girl.

Now today, I got 4 eggs from my tuxedo pen!!

That's 2 each from the tux hens, 1 from the dark tibe that was already laying, and a new one from the 'extra roo'.

Thanks for the sexing tips Niki!! This girl could have had an awful fate if it weren't for you!!

So now I have 22 laying coturnix hens, what the heck was I thinking??

Oh, and this doesn't include the young red/red goldens. I don't know their sexes yet, but so far no one is crowing! That's always a plus!
